Connecticut Cryptid Lore

Connecticut Cryptid Lore In-Person

Cryptids thrive in the popular consciousness. From Bigfoot to Mothman, these creatures inspire devout fandoms among individuals who love stories about the extraordinary.

Connecticut has no shortage of cryptid tales. Chances are good that you’ve heard about the Black Dog of the Hanging Hills in Meriden or the Winsted Wildman of Winchester and Barkhamsted. But these are only a few of the mythical creatures that call Connecticut home.  Did you know that mermaids supposedly live off the coast of Stratford? Or that a multi-headed serpent is said to overlook the town of Beacon Falls? Join Connecticut Cryptids authors Patrick Scalisi and Valerie Ruby-Omen for a talk sharing cryptid stories that have been part of Connecticut culture from as early as the 1600s.  Books will be available for purchase.
