Teen Acting Class with City Youth Theater In-Person
Teens! Join Waterbury’s City Youth Theater for a 4-week acting class series at the Woodbury Public Library!
At this fun program, you'll have a chance to work on acting skills through ensemble building and improvisation techniques, and work with monologues and other text, too! Classes will begin with physical and vocal warm ups. No previous experience necessary. The acting class is open to all interested students in grades 6 & up, and like all library programs, is free, thanks to funding from the Friends of the Woodbury Public Library.
Based in Waterbury, Connecticut, City Youth Theater is open to high school and middle school students and is committed to developing theater skills that challenge each student to perform at their highest skill levels on and off the stage. The techniques shared during the rehearsal process are applied productively to any endeavor students may encounter, whether or not they pursue a theatrical career, and help prepare them for a challenging, exciting world.
City Youth Theater Instructor Catherine Pelkey has been a dedicated and energetic educator to students both big and small. After graduating from SUNY Purchase with a concentration in theatre and performance, Catherine moved home to CT where she has since combined her passions for theater and working with children in classroom, workshop, and after school program settings—Focusing on movement, gameplay, and collaboration as a means of expression and growth on and off stage. Catherine is excited to work with CYT and a new batch of students this coming March!
