“Fact into Fiction” Writing Workshop In-Person

In recognition of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), author Steven Parlato will offer a writing workshopsuitable for teens and adults. 

The afternoon writing workshop, “Fact into Fiction” with author/educator Steven Parlato is open to adults and high school students.  Steven will share examples from his novels and offer prompts that encourage participants to incorporate true-life details and sensory description into their writing to create vivid, authentic fiction. 

Award-winning author and poet, Steven Parlato, has work in Freshwater, Peregrine, MARGIE, and other journals. Upon the 2013 release of his YA debut, The Namesake, Publishers Weekly called Parlato “a name to watch.” His followup novel, The Precious Dreadful, has been described as “a dark, poignant exploration of friendship, loss, and the very real power of storytelling.” A college professor, artist, and actor, Steve has played roles including the Scarecrow and Macbeth. He lives in Middlebury with his family.
