Financial wellness begins with getting organized, knowing what you own and developing a plan.  Join Alex Overkamp, a Financial Educator from the Association of Financial Educators to talk about ways you can get started organizing your finances for the future. AFE (Association of Financial Educators) is a nationwide 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational bureau comprised of financial professionals in dozens of fields including investing, estate planning, accounting, tax, real estate, law, and more. Their members have a passion for education and share a common goal of empowering individuals and communities with the knowledge they need to take control of their own financial well-being.  Established in 2008 with the mission of promoting widespread and comprehensive financial literacy, AFE is the market leader in providing free educational workshops throughout North America. Alex Overkamp works as a fiduciary financial advisor, primarily serving retirees and those nearing retirement, business owners of all types, and families. He has over 25 years’ experience in the financial services industry, more specifically his focus is in five areas; asset management, tax management, risk management, estate planning and legacy planning. With a specialization in tax efficient income distribution and investment portfolio risk reduction and mitigation.  Alex is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designee as well as an Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF).  He holds the series 6, 63, 65 & 7 licenses.  Alex grew up in Cortlandt Manor in Northern Westchester County New York as a first generation American as his parents immigrated to the USA in the early 1960’s. He attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio obtaining a bachelor’s degree in political science. He has been married to his wife Andrea for over 20 years living in Seymour, Connecticut with their four children and dog Alpha.
